Before you get to the lake at Joe Wheeler State Park, there are shallow creeks, teaming with crawdads and sunfish, to explore. Trails lead to deer tracks and champion trees. The beach beckons with gentle,shallow water where shells can be found. Campers will explore the trails, fish in the creeks, build shelters (forts) under the trees, and perform science experiments in the pavilion.
