Before you get to the lake at Oak Mountain State Park, there are shallow creeks, teaming with crawdads, to explore. Trails lead up the mountain where salamanders skittle through the rocks. The beach beckons with gentle,shallow water where fishing from the beach nets sunfish. Campers will explore the trails, fish in the creeks, build shelters (forts) under the trees, and perform science experiments in the pavilion.
